El Chicano "Viva Tirado" 1970

From Los Angeles El Chicano made some really great Soul-Jazz meets Latin-Rock albums in the early 70s - Viva Tirado is their debut from 1970. Sometimes the guitars and groove reminds me of Made In Swedens first LP With Love (there are elements of early rootsy jazz-rock). This album is a groovy set of raw covers only (Cantaloupe Island, Eleanor Rigby, Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child, Comin' Home Baby, etc). This a festivus for august! Groovy!

  1. really nice lp, thanks Aaron. i've had el chicano's greatest hits collection for many years, but as i've come across their individual lps in the blogosphere, i realize each one has killer deep cuts, and they're well worth checking out individually.
