This is Maxayn's first out of three LP's recorded in the early 70s for Capricorn Records. The group took their name after the singer Maxayn Lewis (Paulette Parker), isn't Paulette Parker a groovier name? The music is some kind of deep soul and funk, with some typical of times hippie vibes. Their version of Gimme Shelter definitely rocks the socks of Merry Clayton's own version, and Ruth Copelands as well. They also recorded one more groovy Rolling Stones cover for this 1972 album. Groovy!
