Walter Bishop Jr "Soul Village" 1977

Amazing album from 1977 by the american and new yorker pianist and composer Walter Bishop Jr. This is a true soul-jazz gem with moody and funky vibes. Among the musicians on the record are Mark Egan, Randy Becker, Steve Kahn and Ed Soph. Groovy!

Enjoy!

  1. Aaron - I thought you might like this alb. Let me know if this is up your alley:

Gold Star - Big Blue (2017)

“Big Blue” is a mix of late 60’s rock and roll with the soul of early blues and country music.

    1. Big thanks Gyro! I really enjoy Big Blue, I think of Neil Young a lot (Harvest/After The Goldrush), also of Dylan/The Band. Great voice (i think of Todd Snider and Dan Stuart from Green On Red?), great production and melodies. I really appreciate the tip, definitely my kind of americana/heartland rock:-)

  2. Aaron - I hear a bit of World Party there as well. Do you hear that?

    1. Gyro - Maybe your right about World Party? To be honest I heard very little by them over the years, don't know why. But, i searched them yeasterday and downloaded their "Bang" and "Private Revolution" album, maybe they are a good introduction?

  3. Aaron - The albums I used to play a lot was the first two: Private Revolution and Goodbye Jumbo. Give them a listen and then see if you want to hear anything else.
