Eric Kloss "Consciousness!" 1970

Eric Kloss (born blind) was born in Greenville, Pennsylvania in 1949, and learned play saxophone at the age of 10, two years later he went playing at night clubs with musicians like Sonny Stitt and Bobby Negri. Conscousness was released in 1970 with help from Pat Martino (wich do some really incredible guitar work on this album), Chic Corea, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette. This is a very strong and spiritual jazz album, some of the tracks are flirting with the "pop" audience (groovy version of Donovan's Sunshine Superman), sometimes it has a nice soul-jazz vibe. If someone wanted to share some of Kloss other stuff from this period, feel free to post them in the comment field. Groovy!

Enjoy!

  1. Eric had an amazing prolific run during the late 60s through the 70s on Prestige, Cobblestone and Muse. I've read he's been sidelined by health issues. Thank you for keeping his name and music in circulation.
