Eddie Harris "I Need Some Money" 1975

Well, this must be one of the most funky and groovy jazz albums of the mid seventies. Eddie Harris was an extreme productive artist and performer in the late sixties and seventies, he made his LP debut already in 1961 (sadly he died way too early in 1996 at the age of 62). Just like his friend Miles Davis he was flirting a lot with the rock and hippie audience and early went electric, Harris loved to experiment in the joint to a more spiritual and free jazz. Almost every album from Eddie Harris is a joy and they are all very soulful from this period - but this one is something special (to me). Sometimes it actually sounds like an instrumental funk effort from groups like War or Fatback Band. It's so damned groovy and funky!
