First of all, this record has the worst (or ugliest maybe) album cover ever made. But the music on this album is so fabulous. Half of the tracks are cover versions of James Brown and The Meters, but performed in a more laid back funky way, and with a nice groovy late 60s cocktail vibe. This instrumental album includes drums, bass and sitar mostly, and it swings a lot - very nice production. Ravi Harris was actually a pseudonym by maestro Gabriel Roth (mostly known for his work with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Antibalas, and as a producer under the alias Bosco Mann, and of course as the founder of The Daptone Records), support him and the Daptone Records here. Have a sitar! Groovy!
